Mastigum Spray
Elastic bitumen mastic for spraying application
Cat no. 231
Product Description
Mastigum Spray is bituminous elastomeric sealant. Mastigum Spray offers superior waterproofing properties, flexibility and elasticity in wide range of temperatures (-10°c to 100°c). Application is simple and easy, requiring no heating. Mastigum Spray is also suitable for application on vertical surfaces. It is applied cold, and is neither toxic nor flammable.
Application

Method of application:
Before application, clean the surface thoroughly to remove all dirt. Roll with cement mortar at all wall-floor seams, if required. Narrow and deep holes should be sealed, using cement mortar.
Application can be made by spraying, brushing or rolling.
- To waterproof basement walls:
- If the basement floor was sealed with bitumen membranes, apply a strip of 30 cm of membrane in the corner between the basement walls and the membranes which were applied under basement floor, 15 cm on the walls and 15 cm on the floor.
- Apply low heat over the membranes to deposit the dirt and bring out melted bitumen.
- Apply a coat of Mastigum Primer over the basement walls and the membranes over the basement floor, using 250-300 gr/m². Allow to dry 30-60 minutes.
- Apply Mastigum Spray, using a total quantity of 3-4.5 kg/m², depends on depth of the basement and water table level. It is recommended to spray in 3 layers, allowing a short waiting interval between layers as initial drying.
It is recommended to brush thoroughly the first layer of
Mastigum Spray towards the substrate (also when applied
by spraying), in order to prevent formation of bubbles.
Allow to dry for 5 days after application.
- Spread a Geotextile Matt, 200 gm/m², over the waterproofing
layer and then, spread protection sheet made of 0.5 mm smooth HDPE as PROTECT 5 prior to covering.
- To waterproof bathroom and showers floor prior to tiling:
- Apply a coat of Mastigum Primer using 250-300 gr/m², over the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Allow to dry for 1-2 hours.
- Apply a coat of Mastigum Spray on the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Use 1.5 kg/m² of Mastigum Spray. Allow to dry for 6-8 hours. Apply second coat, using 1.5 kg/m². Allow to dry for 24 hours at least.
- Fill in sand and lay the tiles, or lay ceramic tiles by direct adhesion onto the sealing layer.
- To waterproof small patio floor prior to tiling:
General: The infrastructure shall be a stable concrete infrastructure and not foamed concrete (light concrete).
- Apply or spray a coat of Mastigum Primer using 250-300 gr/m², over the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Allow to dry for 1-2 hours.
- Apply a coat of Mastigum Spray on the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Use 1.5 kg/m² of Mastigum Spray.
Allow to dry for 4-6 hours.
- Apply a second coat of Mastigum Spray, 1.5 kg/m². Allow to dry for 12 hours.
- Apply (or apply by brush) a third coat of Mastigum Spray, Using 1.5 kg/m². In case this is the final coat, Allow to dry for 5 days (without rain) prior to tiling. In case there are additional coats, allow to dry for 6-8 hours.
- In case of patio floor bigger than 10 m², apply forth layer of Mastigum Spray, 1.5 kg/m². Allow to dry for 5 days (without rain) prior to tiling.
- In case of patio floor bigger than 15 m², sink Polyfabric (polyester fabric) in the fresh material between second and third coats.
- In case of bigger patio floors, advise with the producer.
- Fill in sand and lay the tiles, or lay ceramic tiles by direct adhesion onto the sealing layer.
- To waterproof concrete roof :
Let it dry for 5 days.
- Spread polyethylene sheet, 0.2 mm thick, on the top of the dry Mastigum Spray and lay foamed polystyrene boards as a thermal insulation layer. Then, spread additional polyethylene sheet on the thermal insulation boards.
- Cast a concrete layer, minimum 10 - 15 cm thick, with appropriate steel mesh, on the polyethylene sheet.
- 14 days after casting the concrete, it is possible to apply Multigum, according to the specifications in Multigum TDS, on the concrete and the walls in the perimeter of the roof.
- To waterproof concrete roof with bitumen membranes:
General: The infrastructure shall be a stable concrete infrastructure and not foamed concrete (light concrete).
- Apply or spray a coat of Mastigum Primer using 250-300 gr/m², over the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Allow to dry for 1-2 hours.
- Apply a coat of Mastigum Spray on the horizontal surfaces and the rolled seams. Use 2 kg/m² of Mastigum Spray.
Allow to dry for 4-5 days.
- Apply on the top bitumen membranes by torching, as well as self adhesive bitumen membranes.
